Sunday Thoughts | Quoted

**Creative Sunday Series
"Let us not waste time arguing about what is meant by "contemporary". It goes without saying that any time we speak of has already become an historical past, a past that seems to crumble away at the hinder end the further we recede from it. Phenomena which a younger generation is constantly relegating to "former days" are, for their elders, part of "our own day", not merely because their elders have a personal recollection of them but because their culture still participates in them. This different time-sense is not so much dependent on the generation to which one happens to belong as on the knowledge one has of things old and new. A mind historically focused will embody in its idea of what is "modern" and "contemporary" a far larger section of the past than a mind living in the myopia of the moment." - J. Huizinga, Homo Ludens, p.195

Monument Valley | A Game About Architecture & Impossible Geometry

Monument Valley is the latest game from ustwo™, creators of Whale Trail and Blip Blup. A game about discovery, perception and meaningful beauty, inspired by the art of M.C. Escher, each level is a unique, hand-crafted combination of puzzle, graphic design and architecture.
“Monument Valley originated from wanting to make a game where architecture was the main character. It’s a surreal exploration through fantastical architecture and impossible geometry where the player guides Ida through mysterious monuments, uncovering hidden paths, unfolding optical illusions and outsmarting the enigmatic Crow People.
Monument Valley is a beautiful, exploratory experience, somewhere between exploring a toyshop and reading The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.
-Ken Wong, creator - interviewed by formfiftyfive. (check the link for the full interview)
