Open Invitation | Western Balkans Museum Grants for Disability Inclusion

Funded by SIDA and Stavros Niarchos Foundation (as part of its initiative to develop disability inclusion in museums in the Western Balkans) CHwB is offering grants to museums in the Western Balkans that include the topics below:

1. Involvement, engagement, participation for access and inclusion of disabled people 
2. Social justice 
3. Negotiating the Past/Storytelling

Participants from the Western Balkans are invited to the second annual regional museum conference Meet, See, Do” taking place in TiranaAlbania from April 8-10, 2014. 

This event will have all the resources needed to exchange, develop and polish the proposed project ideas. It is also an opportunity to meet local and international experts, find possible partnerships, and put the best ideas forward for funding. 

There are a few grants available up to €4.000 as well as a special award up to €7000.


To qualify for funding, projects must:

1. Have maximum duration of 6 months (implementation period is 1st June – 8th December 2014) 
2. Involve partnerships with non‐museum organizations 
3. Involve groups of people (beneficiaries) 
4. Show clear evidence of community engagement (where appropriate) 
5. Be at least part‐funded from within the museum (at least 20% of total cost)  
6. Is subject to quality financial reporting. 
7. Be evaluated and a brief evaluation report submitted.

Open Invitation | makeLab Workshop @Polis University

makeLab, the digital fabrication studio at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michiganwill be conducting a workshop at Polis University in Tirana, Albania from July 4 – 13, 2014. The workshop will focus on digital fabrication (on-site digital design/build) and will be conducted on makeLab’s 4th suitcase CNC

Cast YOUR Vote | Balkans Arts & Culture Fund Pre-Selected Projects

Balkans Arts & Culture Funds has selected and just announced the 12 finalists for the Western Balkans Collaboration Projects in Arts and Culture (WBCP). Out of 115 proposals received, this pre-selected group of finalists will go through a second round of reviews by outside advisors, before a winner is announced at the end of the month.  

BAC is also introducing a public vote (which is great) that will help decide the winner if there is a tie in the experts' evaluation. We're rooting for the Co-PLAN Institute for Habitat Development (Albania) proposed project The Initiator, the Artist, his Advocate and the Urbanist (IAAU) - a platform for culture and city-making.

SELECTION:
There will be a preliminary selection of maximum 5 artists from Tirana, Albania and the organisers of the workshop, ArtAgent together with Refraction Association and Performing Pictures in Co-operation with T.I.C.A art Center, will finally select a maximum of 25 artists, sociologists and curators from all countries. The decision will be announced on www.visualizetheinvisible.com on November 10th 2013

About the workshop:


The international workshop Participatory Art as a Tool for Dialogue and Change is aimed to enhance knowledge about participatory art among the artists and the sociologists in the EU-project Visualize the Invisible.

It is an interdisciplinary art workshop where ArtAgent artists and curators joins artists, art-students, curators and sociologists from Refraction Association, Albania, T.I.C.A, (Tirana Institute of Contemporary Art), Albania, Media Artes, Macedonia, Performing Pictures Sweden / Croatia and in an open network in Tirana for an engaging conversation about different ways and approaches in their Participatory Art practices. There will also be trainings in drama, dance and multi-media as a part of the mutual exchange.
